Saint Luke the Evangelist

This icon is hand-painted (hand-painted) with gold leaf in carved wood and lightly aged with the traditional technique of Mount Athos. It has the signature of the hagiographer and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The Evangelist Luke came from Antioch of Syria with Greek nationality. He was a doctor and knew the art of painting and to him are attributed the first images of the Virgin Mary with Jesus Christ as well as the Apostles Peter and Paul. He died a martyr’s death and in 357 AD his relic was moved to the church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople. He is the author of the eponymous Gospel and Acts of the books which are included in the New Testament.
Our church celebrates his memory on October 10.
