Saint Anthony

This image is handmade hagiography (hand painted) with gold leaf. It has the signature of the hagiographer and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Saint Anthony was born in Coma, Egypt. A famous Christian ascetic and founder of a solitary life in the East. During his ascetic life he never changed his clothes, nor did he wash his body or feet with water. He taught his disciples not to consider anything superior to the love of Christ and not to think that because they abstain from worldly goods, they lack something worthwhile. Saint Anthony, named by the church of Megas, fell asleep in 356 at the age of 105. His remains are today in the Abbey of Saint Anthony in the homonymous city of SE France.
