Gagata is a stone and is also called Mega Electron. It took its name from the city of Gaga in Lycia. It belongs to the lignites. Gagata rosaries were especially popular in 19th century Russia, due to their black color and the symbolism that it has in Orthodox monasticism. In Siberia, in the city of Irkutsk, where the largest gaga deposit has been located, their cathedral is decorated with gaga.
