The Apostle Andreas was the brother of Peter, he was a fisherman and he came from Bisthaida in Galilee. Because he was called first by the Lord in the group of disciples, he was called protokletos. Andreas together with John were disciples of the Forerunner. One day the Forerunner showed them the Lord and said to them <the lamb of God took away the sins of the world> and from then on they became disciples of Christ. Teaching Christianity he ended up in Achaia where he died after being crucified in the shape of an X. In the city of Patras, since September 26th, 1964, his honorable Kara and since January 19th, 1980, relics of his martyrdom cross have been kept. Our church honors his memory on November 30th.
